 | I first became interested in jewellery during my foundation year in the National College of Art and Design. The degree in Metalwork and Jewellery took three years to complete following the foundation year and in 1998 I received an Honors Degree in Metalwork and Jewellery. While at college, I took part in a number of exhibitions and competitions (both locally, in Dundalk, and nationally) while I began to build my reputation as an artist and, more particularly, as a jeweller.
During my degree year, I experimented with a number of materials (including silver, Perspex, resin, and occasionally, found objects), before settling on sterling silver. It was also at this time that I became interested in Modernism, Minimalism and architecture, which is where I now get inspiration for my designs. |
